Billiam is my consulting practice. I’m a software developer and fractional CTO, and I work directly with the businesses that hire me.
Most growing companies don’t need a full-time engineer. They need someone really good at software who knows their business, fixes what’s broken, builds what’s missing, and makes their tools work together. That’s what I do.
I’ve spent more than fifteen years building software and leading engineering teams, including healthcare systems in Lesotho and Nigeria, logistics software, publishing, and AI. I still write the code.
For $3,000 a month, you have a senior developer on your team without hiring one. It’s month to month, you can cancel anytime, and you keep everything we build.

What a month can look like
Every client is different. Here are examples of the kind of work a month can cover:
- A consulting firm. Connect an intake form to the CRM so new leads stop getting retyped, and build a simple dashboard showing where every client engagement stands.
- A publisher. Fix an ebook checkout that’s dropping orders, then add automatic delivery emails and a sales report the owner can check every Monday.
- A professional services firm. Provide professional engineering guidance to two tech-savvy business owners who use AI to build their own client operations system
- A growing company. Move a website and its tools off an aging server nobody understands, document everything, and set up monitoring to catch outages before customers notice.
Bigger projects, like a customer portal or a new product, simply run across several months of the list.
Email and documentation
Day-to-day work happens over email, where I find the majority of owner/operators thrive. No new apps to learn or project boards to check. Our monthly check-in meeting is to say hi and align priorities. I'll send occasional video notes for those owners or occasions that prefer video context.
I write a lot of documentation, in plain text, sent to your inbox: why changes happen. Over time your email becomes a complete, searchable record of your software. Search your inbox for “backups” or “checkout” and the answer is there.

04 / QuestionsWhat does $3,000 a month include?
You work with me on development, fixes, integrations, migrations, maintenance, and technical decisions over email. Status update summary email + video note weekly, and one monthly meeting.
Billiam used to run bigger plans for startups. Is that still available?
No. We used to offer higher ticket plans for building an entire startup. We strongly recommend you find a full time technical partner with ownership if you are starting a new startup (or learn to program, it is much easier to get started now with AI).
How does the first-month trial work?
We start with a short call, choose one concrete thing the first month will deliver, and write it down. If it isn’t done by the end of the month, you don’t pay.
Am I signing a long-term contract?
No. After the first month, it continues month to month at $3,000. You can cancel anytime, and you keep everything we build.
How many requests can I send?
Send requests whenever you think of them. I work through the list in priority order, one at a time. You can reorder the list anytime.
How quickly will you reply? What if something breaks?
I reply within one to two business days and take care of any issues that arise. Response time is separate from how long a development request takes; larger work can span several months. This is not a 24/7 service, I am not running a large engineering team nor am available for after hours fixes. But, the point is we plan for that. For critical systems we establish other support providers as needed.
What if I need a bigger project?
A customer portal, a new product, or a larger system rebuild can run across several months of the request list. We keep working through the priorities and you get a progress update every week.
What changes at $6,000 a month?
Two meetings per month to drive double the progress. Your involvement must increase as well as we need to manage more changes. You can drop back to the $3,000 option anytime.
How do we communicate?
We start with a short call. The $3,000 option runs over email, with one monthly standing meeting. The $6,000 option adds two meetings per month. With either option, there’s no new app to learn or project board to check.
Why wouldn't I just pay an AI provider to do all this?
You totally can. If you have tried that, you have probably learned that it is very DIY and time-consuming. But, we can help you get setup for that if you need to tighten the belt for some months or are interested in being the technical steward of your company.
What happens if you’re unavailable or we stop working together?
You own the code, accounts, and data from day one. I send plain-text documentation to your inbox covering how the systems work and the 'why' behind changes. Communication being text-based in email is a very nice setup for another developer or AI agents to pick things up.
